The USA Cycling Bill Woodul Race Mechanics Clinic presented by the PBMA provides instruction in both lecture and hands-on environments from practicing world-class team, race and event support mechanics. This 4-day workshop is like none other in the world and provides a once-in-a-lifetime experience to rub shoulders with some of the leaders in the industry. Past participants have gone on to work for National Teams, World Tour Teams, World Cup Teams and the Olympics.
The cost of this clinic is $725 and includes lodging Monday to Thursday, Breakfasts, Lunches, Snacks, a dinner and all course materials, and one year's license. Members of the PBMA are entitled to a $65 discount on registration costs.

Important Details:
- This Clinic is limited to 64 participants, classes are broken down into groups of 16, most classes feature a lead instructor and a helping instructor, teacher to student ration = 1:2.
- While there is no prerequisite to attend, it is suggested that you have a comprehensive understanding bicycle mechanics. This is an advanced course in Race Support for bicycle mechanics.
- The Clinic is hosted by the PBMA on behalf of USA Cycling at the Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark - Austin, Texas, this hotel offers ample free parking and is an easy Lyft, Uber or drive from all the great offerings of Downtown and South Austin have to offer.
- The Clinic will begin at approximately 5pm on January 4th and conclude around 1pm on January 7th. Checkin will be available onsite beginning at 3pm on January 4th.
- Registration cost includes lodging and most meals from January 4th to January 7th
- Lodging is provided as part of your event fee from Monday the 4th to Thursday the 7th (3 nights). Additional nights lodging are available during checkout for a streamlined stay.
- The reception on Monday evening will feature an appetizer style food selection
- Breakfast is provided Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Morning
- Lunch is provided Tuesday and Wednesday
- Dinner is provided Tuesday night. We encourage attendees to venture out to take advantage of Austin's great food scene on Wednesday night!
- While there is no prerequisite to attend, it is suggested that you have a comprehensive understanding of bicycle mechanics. This is an advanced course in Race Support for bicycle mechanics.
- A course manual is included in your registration fee, this manual has been created, added to and edited since the first Clinic in 1989. This is the only place you will ever find this comprehensive guide to cycling event support.
- Transportation to and from the event is the responsibility of the attendee. The hotel offers a shuttle for $10 each way and Uber or Lyft are readily available (estimated cost is about $15 each direction).
- The Austin International Airport (AUS) has two terminals. Most airlines are served by the main terminal, Frontier and Alligent both fly in and out of the South Terminal which may result in additional transportation costs for Uber or Lyft and a little bit longer travel time.
- Lodging is double occupancy, meaning you will share with one other person. Rooms will be assigned prior to arrival. During the checkout process you will be able to provide some information so we can find a suitable roommate.Meals include a welcome reception, 2 lunches, a dinner, and daily snack and coffee breaks. The reception will feature a cash bar. Beer, wine and spirits maybe purchased by those of legal drinking age, the estimated cost of a beverage is $8 to $12. During checkout you may purchase drink coupons at a discounted price.
- You may add additional nights to your stay +1 day before or after the clinic during checkout, this will allow you to not need to change rooms during your stay in Austin ($155 per additional night).
- If you do not wish to have a roommate you may choose to have your own room for an additional charge ($350 for lodging Monday to Thursday).
- Upon successful completion of this 2020 Race Mechanics Clinic you will receive a Category 3 USA Cycling Race Mechanics License and a certificate of achievement.
- During this Clinic you will participate in core classes with emphasis on race, team and event support. You will also receive training on rules, caravan driving and keynote speeches from coaches, athletes and other inspiring industry personnel.
- Please check the weather. The event is run rain or shine and includes outdoor activities on the hotel property.
- The license you will earn by completing this course does not directly equal paid work. It does open the door with contacts within the racing community, and adds your name to a database of licensed (and therefore INSURED) mechanics, available to event promoters and teams via USA Cycling.
