PBMA is excited to introduce our newest Mechanic of the Week, Peter Barson, of Fleet Feet Sports in Deerfield, Illinois!
For those of you just tuning into #mechanicmonday, this is where we feature one mechanic each week, chosen at random from nominations submitted the week before. It’s all about mechanics supporting fellow mechanics – even behind the scenes, where we are proud to say that our Mechanic of the Week is presented by none other than Abbey Bike Tools and the Friar himself! Peter has been a professional mechanic in the Chicago area for well over fifteen years. He’s changed shops several times, and each time, the majority of his customers followed him so that he could continue working on their bikes. As one customer wrote to us, “Peter is the only mechanic I 100% trust with my bike!” Another customer wrote that he is “not only the best hands-on mechanic, but also the most knowledgeable” because he takes the time to explain the work and educate his customers, while still providing excellent work. Peter wasn’t just nominated by his customers to be featured this week; he was also nominated by his sons, who are clearly so proud of what their dad has accomplished in his career. Peter values precision, quality, and honesty, and he’s obviously passed those values on to his family outside of the bike shop as well. He keeps up with the latest technology, offers sound advice, and gives back to his community as much and as often as he can. We are proud to feature Peter today, and we thank him for all that he’s done (and continues to do) to model professionalism as a career bike mechanic. For everyone reading this at home, we encourage you to join the #MOTW conversation: Post a picture of YOUR favorite mechanic and tag us @probicyclemech, #probma, or #mechanicmonday, or nominate him or her to be featured in next week’s post! |
