12/5/2016 Mechanic of the Week p/b Abbey Bike Tools - Monday December 5th 2016 #mechanicmondayRead Now PBMA is pleased to introduce our newest Mechanic of the Week, Ben Chournos, owner of Shift Works in Ogden, Utah!
For those of you just tuning into #mechanicmonday, this is where we feature one mechanic each week, chosen at random from nominations submitted the week before. It’s all about mechanics supporting fellow mechanics – even behind the scenes, where we are proud to say that our Mechanic of the Week is presented by none other than Abbey Bike Tools and the Friar himself! Ben Chournos is better known as “Uncle Ben” in the Ogden cycling community, because he’s trained pretty much every mechanic in town. He was nominated by a handful of his protégées, all of whom agreed that Ben is “an awesome friend, mentor, and example who deserves any recognition we can give him.” Ben is as generous with his time as he is with his knowledge: He is the trail boss of the Ogden Bike Park, volunteers with the Ogden Trails Network advocacy group, and volunteers with the Ogden Bike Collective co-op. Between community events that he organizes at his shop and his extensive volunteer work, Ben maintains constant contact with the Ogden cycling community. That community is undoubtedly better because of Ben’s involvement. On behalf of the entire PBMA community, we are inspired by the impact that Ben has on everyone around him, and we are proud to feature him today. For everyone reading this at home, we encourage you to join the #MOTW conversation: Post a picture of YOUR favorite mechanic and tag us @probicyclemech, #probma, or #mechanicmonday, or nominate him or her to be featured in next week’s post!
