PBMA is excited to introduce this week’s Mechanic of the Week, Tom Rassiga, owner and mechanic at The Bicyclery in West Palm Beach, Florida!
For those of you just tuning into #mechanicmonday, this is where we feature one mechanic each week, chosen at random from nominations submitted the week before. It’s all about mechanics supporting fellow mechanics – even behind the scenes, where we are proud to say that our Mechanic of the Week is presented by none other than Abbey Bike Tools and the Friar himself! Tom’s shop, The Bicyclery, was founded in 1987, and Tom was one of its original employees. He learned the trade of cycling mechanics by working in the shop and has been working as a mechanic ever since. When the original owner of The Bicyclery was ready to retire, Tom and his wife, Martha, purchased the shop in order to continue its friends-and-family-run, community-focused mission. The shop’s reputation is known throughout the Palm Beach area; Tom, Martha, and their staff work tirelessly to educate the community about cycling and to ensure that every customer feels that he or she was personally attended to. The Bicyclery’s Facebook page is a testament to the Rassigas’ mission. In the words of one happy customer: “The Bicyclery is more than just a place to get a flat fixed. It is a rare place where you go and see people that know you by name, rather than be met by a ‘Sales Associate’ who is just biding time until his or her next break.” In today’s industry, that type of environment is becoming increasingly rare. We at PBMA admire Tom and Martha for their dedication to their community, and to fostering a culture of cycling that is as inclusive as it is specialized. For everyone reading this at home, we encourage you to join the #MOTW conversation: Post a picture of YOUR favorite mechanic and tag us @probicyclemech, #probma, or #mechanicmonday, or nominate him or her to be featured in next week’s post. Each featured Mechanic of the Week is automatically entered to win a trip to Interbike 2017, courtesy of PBMA and Abbey Bike Tools. So nominate! And stay tuned for details! 1/1/2017 02:04:22 pm
