PBMA is excited to introduce our newest Mechanic of the Week, Zack Foley, race mechanic with the Cylance pro team and shop mechanic at Peachtree Bikes in Beaver, Utah!
For those of you just tuning into #mechanicmonday, this is where we feature one mechanic each week, chosen at random from nominations submitted the week before. It’s all about mechanics supporting fellow mechanics – even behind the scenes, where we are proud to say that our Mechanic of the Week is presented by none other than Abbey Bike Tools and the Friar himself! It’s hard to find a mechanic in our industry who’s never crossed paths with Zack Foley. Most people know Zack by his beard or his catchy “@bikesandbrusies” Instagram. Now in his seventh year on the pro road circuit, Zack is an incredible wealth of knowledge about all things mechanical, and has made a reputation for himself by being “the calm within the storm” at countless races. He is a skilled mechanic and all-around great guy who never stops going at full-speed. In one word, Zack’s closest friends describe him as “majestic.” Perhaps one of Zack’s best qualities is his eagerness to give back to not only the sport of cycling, but also to his fellow mechanics. At pro criteriums, it is not uncommon to see Zack pulling double-duty, working for his team (first and foremost, obviously) and also stepping up to help Neutral Support at those moments when the pit gets completely overwhelmed. Whether it’s dusting someone off after a crash or waving a wheel while riders re-enter the field, Zack is a constant and reassuring presence at any race for riders and mechanics alike. When he’s not traversing the country and working on bikes, Zack enjoys rock climbing and “anything to do with dogs,” and is a connoisseur of fine coffees and craft beers. Zack’s home shop, Peachtree Bikes, is certainly very lucky to have him, as are his pro team and the entire cycling mechanics community. Congratulations, Zack! As always, we look forward to seeing you at events, and we know that your custom PBMA Stu Stick will be one of the best-traveled in the world. For everyone reading this at home, we encourage you to join the #MOTW conversation: Post a picture of YOUR favorite mechanic and tag us @probicyclemech, #probma, or #mechanicmonday, or nominate him or her to be featured in next week’s post!
