![]() PBMA is excited to introduce you to our Mechanic of the Week, Ron Gainer, of Velo Domestique in Chatham, New York! For those of you just tuning into #mechanicmonday, this is where we feature one mechanic each week, chosen at random from nominations submitted the week before. It’s all about mechanics supporting fellow mechanics! Ron is the owner and mechanic of Velo Domestique, the Chatham area’s only full-service, four-season pro bicycle shop. Together with his fiancée, Alissa, and their one-year-old son, Wyatt, Ron runs a very professional, and yet very down-to-earth, family-focused shop with 100% commitment to customer service. Prior to opening Velo Domestique earlier this year, Ron worked extensively in shops and as a pro race mechanic for neutral support and Department of Defense (Wounded Warrior) programs. Ron continues to work with both Mavic Special Service Course (SSC) and SRAM Neutral Race Support (NRS) during the road season, where his enthusiasm for and knowledge of “all things bicycle” are contagious. Ron was nominated by his Neutral Support colleagues to be featured by the PBMA. While they had plenty of praise and some very fun stories, one comment really hit home for us: “Ron cut his teeth as a pro mechanic working for Mavic, and will always be a part of the SSC family.” Nothing makes us happier than seeing mechanics supporting fellow mechanics! We encourage you to join the conversation: Post a picture of YOUR favorite mechanic and tag us @probicyclemech, #probma, or #mechanicmonday, or nominate him or her to be featured in next week’s post!

I stopped by Ron's store in the early spring as it was just opening. Although he was not really open for business, he took my bike in for a tune up and since then, hardly a week goes by that I do not stop by to chat. I consider him the most knowledgeable mechanic I have ever met and his honesty, integrity, and love of the sport are always evident. I am lucky to have met him and our town is very fortunate he decided to open his shop here. The Sunday morning rides from his shop are more fun than should be legal! Ron is more than a bike shop owner and great mechanic, he is a terrific man to know and call your friend. Comments are closed.
