Mechanic of the Week - July 18th, 2016 #mechanicmonday

PBMA is pleased to introduce our newest Mechanic of the Week, Tony Smith, founder and owner of www.bookabikemechanic.com!

For those of you just tuning into #mechanicmonday, this is where we feature one mechanic each week, chosen at random from nominations submitted the week before. It’s all about mechanics supporting fellow mechanics!

With an extensive background in machining and machine repair, Tony is truly an engineer at heart and is never without a project (or twenty!) to keep him busy. Tony has been involved in all aspects of the cycling industry for over twenty years. He has worked as a frame builder, national and international pro mechanic, road manager for Rapha/Focus, and warranty and tech support wizard at Focus bikes. He even raced mountain bikes professionally for ten years, and was the 2004 24-hour Solo Single-Speed World Champion!

Tony founded bookabikemechanic.com in March 2014 with the simple goal of making North America’s best mechanics more accessible to cyclists. When the website took off, Tony left his much-loved Focus USA group to concentrate on his new business full-time. But when we explained our idea of “mechanics supporting fellow mechanics” to Tony’s former colleagues at Focus earlier this year, they knew instantly that he would be a perfect person for us to feature. We couldn’t be more happy to “focus” (get it?!) on Tony as this week’s Mechanic of the Week.

We encourage you to join the conversation: Post a picture of YOUR favorite mechanic and tag us @probicyclemech, #probma, or #mechanicmonday, or nominate him or her to be featured in next week’s post!
