Great interview with Calvin Jones, a man of high integrity whom I have known and respected for many years. I like Calvin's description of what a bicycle mechanic should incorporate such as having a deep, core knowledge and displaying a solid code of ethics. Calvin would also agree that mechanics should be "forensic scientists." If something on a bike breaks, maybe a spoke or a chain, we should try to determine why it broke. What is the cause and effect? Instead of just replacing the broken part, a little analysis might reveal the underlying cause of the failure. By doing that, we might prevent it from happening again. Comments are closed.
